Operating Room Penthouse Addition & Renovation

A complex vertical and horizontal expansion project performed atop an active operating room suite, supporting nineteen operating rooms and trauma spaces within a live hospital environment. The work included expansion of the rooftop mechanical penthouse, replacement of three air handling systems, and installation of an energy recovery unit—all while maintaining uninterrupted surgical operations below. The project required precise coordination of structural modifications, building envelope integrity, and mitigation of vibration, noise, and water intrusion risks in one of the most sensitive areas of the hospital. Delivered ahead of schedule, the project enhanced the hospital's mechanical infrastructure and operational capacity, earning recognition with a 2024 AGC Build Georgia Award.
