Living & Learning Community

A 128,000 SF, three-story facility designed to support both healthcare education and workforce housing through a unique partnership between Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and Albany Technical College. The project transformed the former Albany High School site into a dual-purpose environment, with 50,000 SF of educational space—including simulation labs, skills units, and classrooms—paired with 80 residential units for students across the upper floors. Incorporating salvaged elements from the original structure, the project required coordination between institutional partners, design teams, and construction to deliver both functional and symbolic value to the community. Completed on schedule in August 2024, the facility now serves as a pipeline for future healthcare professionals while revitalizing a meaningful site within the Albany community.
